Our team has delivered the fitout of Yarra Community Centre - a project proudly funded by the NSW Government in partnership with the City of Parramatta. Located on the ground floor of the Meriton Apartments on Uhrig Road in Lidcombe, this 1,017m² space has been transformed from a cold shell into a welcoming and inclusive hub for the community. Our scope included the installation of a new entrance, internal accessibility ramp, an access flooring system and sprung timber flooring in key areas. The centre features a wide range of facilities, including a large function room with capacity for 150 people, a dedicated music and meeting room, a commercial-grade kitchen and male, female and accessible bathrooms. It also includes a quiet coworking area with seating for approximately 20 people, alongside multipurpose and adaptable rooms, a communal lounge, as well as office and storage spaces.Following a community consultation process, the name “Yarra Community Centre” was chosen for the space. “Yarra,” meaning gum or eucalyptus tree in Dharug language, reflects the local landscape and historic flora of the area. This makes the Yarra Community Centre the first in the City of Parramatta LGA to receive a first nations name.
